Builder, founder, investor

About
I’m Al Bsharah. I build products to solve problems in my own life. When others find them useful, I make them available. Builder. One is where I share what I’m building, how it’s progressing, and what you can try.
My path started as an electrical engineer in Detroit’s auto industry. I moved to San Diego in 1998 and have been building and operating startups since 1999. My first company didn’t make it. Later, I co-founded Email Copilot, sold it to Return Path and Seismic, and went on to lead data, analytics, and product operations teams at Seismic.
Along the way, I became an investor in more than 100 companies and managing partner at Interlock Capital, helping a community of founders and investors build together. I’ve been on both sides of fundraising and acquisitions, and I give back as a mentor to founders. But I still love getting my hands dirty. These days, that means using AI to turn ideas into working products, including a game I’m building with my son.
Outside of startups, you’ll find me playing beach volleyball or pickleball, or camping (okay, glamping) with my wife, son, and dog. I’m a constant tinkerer. Some things become businesses; others just make life a little better.
How I stage things
- Just for me, reached
- You can try it, reached
- Live product, reached
Built for my own use. Readable, but not available to try.
Working and available, some rough edges possible.
Supported, maintained, and safe to depend on.
Paused and retired projects stay listed. Their neutral rail preserves how far they reached instead of quietly erasing the record.
