biography
My career thinks I'm perfect for this.
As a fellow founder:
I am a technologist. I am a builder. I’ve been through many challenges founders have or will encounter. The tactical ones as well as the emotional ones. I know the struggles, and I know what they need. I meet with founders every single day to help them.
As a incubator + accelerator specialist:
I’ve endured and graduated these programs, I’ve helped build and support them. I’ve experienced the highs and lows they bring, as well as their pros and cons.
As an investor + fund manager:
I’ve been on both sides of the investing and acquisition table. I’ve learned the ups and downs of raising external capital and the flaws in the various funding models.
As a mentor + leader:
I’ve learned how to surround myself with people smarter than me to help my companies, my portfolio founders, and those in need. I may not know the answer, but smart people around me do. I lead by example and motivate with purpose.
As a generalist:
My career? “Let’s put Al on this, he’ll figure it out”. I’ve written code, managed diverse teams, sold product, supported customers, optimized operations, pitched, and more. I see the details required to achieve big goals and motivate teams to execute.
As a community builder:
I’ve led or helped initiate many programs such as The Vine, Mentor Hours, Startup Poker, and Startup San Diego. I speak regularly. I am constantly giving to the community that’s given me so much. I bringing new people into the fold every day.
