Update
Videos gain a timeline—and failures get out of the way
When a video starts from a random place, I want just enough context to understand where I am without turning the television into a media player. The new timeline does that quietly, while failed items and rapid navigation now get out of the slideshow’s way much faster.
Changelog
- Videos can now show a visual timeline with the full file, selected playback portion, start and stop points, and current progress.
- The timeline is on by default, can be turned off in Playback settings, and never appears on Live Photos.
- Fixed the video timeline playhead so it follows the video's actual playback position.
- Made the video timeline playhead move smoothly while staying synchronized with actual playback.
- Moved the video timeline closer to the bottom edge so more of the picture remains unobstructed.
- Failed photos or videos now skip immediately instead of remaining onscreen for their configured display time.
- Rapid Back and Forward navigation now preserves skipped positions and reuses media that is still cached.
- Fixed an intermittent Apple TV HD transition where a finished video could appear again before the next item.
